The general secretary of the World Council of Churches (WCC) Rev Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, has said that “force and military power will not resolve the problems” in a 24 November statement issued as an expression of concern over tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

Tomorrow, Saturday 13 November at 4.30pm, an ecumenical prayer meeting will be held at the Fremantle Uniting Church (corner Market & Cantonment Streets, Fremantle) to pray for an end to persecution of Christians in Iraq. The prayer meeting will be led by Rev Dr Emanuel Audisho, multicultural ministry co-ordinator for the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of Western Australia.
Today’s unanimous High Court ruling that two Sri Lankan asylum seekers were denied procedural fairness and that the Migration Act and Australian court decisions are still binding to an ‘offshore processing regime’ is applauded by the Uniting Church in Western Australia.
