The Uniting Church respects a person’s right to privacy and is committed to protecting all personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) (Act) and the more recent Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012 which sets clear standards for the collection, access, storage and use of personal information obtained for whatever reason.
We will always ensure that all personal information, no matter how or where it is obtained, is handled sensitively, securely and in accordance with the Act.
Personal information held by the Synod will not be released to any person outside the Uniting Church in Australia unless the Synod is required to do so by law. All reasonable precautions are taken to ensure personal information collected and used is accurate, complete and up to date. All reasonable precautions are taken to ensure information held by the Synod is not subject to loss, misuse, unauthorised access or alteration.
