The Social Justice Board works to affirm the Uniting Church’s understanding that serving the Gospel of Jesus Christ requires a Board to working for reconciliation, justice and peace, and that faithfulness to the Gospel involves the Church in social and national affairs.

The Board does this in practical ways by identifying issues, undertaking research, providing position papers, developing resources and organising seminars, and advocacy work.

Members of the Board are appointed by the Synod and include:

  • the Convener
  • the General Secretary
  • the Social Justice Consultant (currently Rosemary Hudson Miller)
  • up to nine other persons.

The Board may co-opt up to two further members to ensure balanced representation or to provide the Board with knowledge, abilities or experience which may be helpful and would not otherwise be available.
