The Ecumenical Affairs Committee is committed to promoting the Church’s commitment to Christian Unity and ecumenicity. It does this by providing resources for local discussion regarding ecumenical co-operation and by keeping the Church informed of ecumenical activities locally, nationally and internationally.

The Committee represents the Synod of WA in ecumenical activities and discussions, and liaises with the Assembly’s dialogues with other denominations. Committee members promote and support the activities of the World Council of Churches, the National Council of Churches of Australia and the Council of Churches of Western Australia, encourage dialogue with other faiths and maintain links with the Council of Christians and Jews.

Members of the Committee are appointed by the Synod and include:

  • the Convener
  • the General Secretary
  • up to eight other persons.

The Committee may co-opt up to two further members to ensure balanced representation or to provide the Committee with knowledge, abilities or experience which may be helpful and would not otherwise be available.
