Event Details
Lay Leaders Gatherings will be held in person and online, each second Saturday of the month, 1.00 to 3.00pm in the Ron Wilson Room at the Uniting Church Centre.
This month’s gathering will explore what it means to be part of the Uniting Church. With so many lay-led congregations, it seems we have often lost our connection to the wider church; however, one of the benefits from COVID has been a greater understanding of the role of the Presbytery in supporting congregations to be the embodiment of the church in its time and place. We will also discuss what topics would be helpful to include in the lay leaders’ gatherings.
Am I a ‘Lay Leader’?
While these sessions will assist Lay Preachers and Pastors to meet their continuing education requirements, they are just as important for people in the myriad of lay leadership roles that emerge in congregations, particularly when there is no ministry agent in placement. It might be that you are a worship leader or Sunday School teacher. You might be on the church council or perhaps periodically involved in pastoral care. In short, we want to hear the needs and provide support where it is needed.
