FLOREAT PARK PRIMARY SCHOOL CHOIR once again performed their Annual Concert in the All Saints Uniting Church on Thursday 26th November 2020 at 1.30 pm led by the Music Director, Gemma Hadley. It was a wonderful afternoon listening to the talented children singing and was enjoyed by both the audience and the children. The Concert was finished with piano solos by three talented young girls. Entry was by way of donation and all proceeds went to the Floreat Park Primary School Music Department.
VARIETY CONCERT – Combined Friendship Groups held a Variety Concert on Saturday 27th November 2021 at 2.00 pm. Once again Deborah Marshall was a wonderful Compere and Quiz Master and there were skits by our talented Minister and Church members and also quizzes and of course the singing of Christmas Carols. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of the church who were asked to bring a plate. Thank you to everyone involved as it was a fun afternoon and everyone went home happy. Donations were happily received and proceeds went to purchase of cushions for the side pews in the church.
‘Julie Walters’ meets ‘Rex Harrison’
Music provided by Joseph Lunardi and Geoff Hadley
PRICE-LESS and PRIZE-LESS – a COMBINED FRIENDSHIP GROUPS EVENT was held at 2.00 pm on Saturday 21 November 2020.
It was definitely a Quiz Night with a Twist or Two ….and was technically not quite Price-less and Prize-less. Donations were happily accepted with proceeds going towards the new video recording system that is to be installed in the church soon. And a few comical soft toys and lollies were given as prizes.
Altogether around 66 people met for fun and entertainment provided by Deborah Marshall as Compere and Quiz Master. Music was provided by our two pianists, Glenn Coughlan and Geoff Hadley, with Joseph Lunardi on the violin and Rachel Brayshaw as soloist.
As well as the Quiz, which was partially Covid-19 based, there was a different version of the Melbourne Cup 2020 based on the controversial US election between Trump and Biden (with the horses appropriately named) and unfortunately Democracy did not do well! Deborah Marshall did a wonderful job as Commentator.
Deborah and Ian Tozer did a wonderful skit on computer technology as seen by a technologically illiterate senior citizen and a shop assistant who took the IT terms a little too literally and finished by throwing out the ‘apple’ because it was too old and trashing the ‘orange’. Unfortunately he never did get his ‘Blackberry’ repaired. It was very much appreciated by those present and got a good round of applause.
Afternoon Tea was provided and everyone went home satisfied and ‘fed up’. Thank you to the Kitchen staff and all who provided the food and special thanks to Deborah and the team for providing the entertainment.
Friendship Groups have been running for many years. Currently there are 5 groups of about 10 – 12 people meeting approximately every six weeks during the year. Participation in a Friendship Group provides members old and new with the opportunity of meeting in a social context and getting to know one another better. Activities include picnics, movies, dinner, lunch, concert, afternoon tea, games, mini golf or cards. Groups are changed and mixed starting in January of every year.
