Mt Hawthorn St Peter and Emmaus Church is seeking ordained leadership.
The congregation operates under the terms of a covenant of co-operation between the Uniting Church in Australia (Presbytery of Western Australia) and the Anglican Church of Australia (Diocese of Perth).
The congregation seeks a suitably ordained person (Parish Priest or Minister of the Word) to lead the parish in the next stage of its life and mission.
St Peter and Emmaus Church has a modern worship area and meeting space that is well suited to diverse forms of worship and attractive for various forms of ministry to the community. The congregation pursues links with Wanslea Early Learning and Development Centre which is located on land adjacent to and owned by the church.
Demographically, compared with the greater metropolitan area, the St Peter and Emmaus ministry area has a higher ratio of Generation Y residents (20 -35 year olds). There is also a higher proportion of professional people and a higher category of children 1-4 years old.
As a result of a whole-parish consultation held in November 2018, the congregation identified that in addition to being a prayerful, compassionate, discerning person, committed to and able to preach the Gospel – the next ordained leader would demonstrate the following specific qualities:
- A capacity to enable discipleship
- An ability to work with a range of theologies
- Be missional and local community focused
- Be able to show creativity and ‘thinking outside the box’
- Be energetic and capable of leading decision making
- Be a team player
Additionally, the ordained leader would work well with the nuances and possibilities presented by a co-operative ministry comprising Anglican and Uniting Church traditions.
