Applications are invited for a Minister of the Word/Deacon to fill a vacant placement for a Police Chaplain, Parramatta and Surry Hills, NSW.

    About us

At Uniting, we believe in taking real steps to make the world a better place. We work to inspire people, enliven communities, and confront injustice.

As an organisation we celebrate our diversity and welcome all people regardless of lifestyle choices, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

We believe that we exist as a church because we are called to be together in mission, God’s mission, which is to bring love, compassion, justice, freedom, and hope to all of God’s creation.

We are bold, imaginative, respectful, and compassionate.

    About the Opportunity

Uniting is seeking a compassionate Ordained Minister to fill a full-time Civil Chaplaincy role. This unique position will be based at the New South Wales Police Force Parramatta Head office.

This position is a Civil Chaplain function within the Uniting Mission, Communities and Social Impact team. It is responsible for the delivery of a high level of differentiated quality spiritual and the provision of chaplaincy services to the New South Wales Police Force.

Chaplains may help employees, volunteers, patients and bystanders to access other faith-based pastoral care or welfare services in the wider community should that be requested. Chaplains also provide representation at baptisms, weddings, funerals and other ceremonies or religious services where a chaplain may be required or requested.

Provide pastoral counselling regarding personal and moral problems relating to work, marriage, relationships and family of sworn and unsworn members of the New South Wales Police Force with the allocated region(s) or upon request.

We are seeking a proven ability in, and understanding of, reflective transformational pastoral practice as well as strong administrative and leadership skills. In addition, this position offers the opportunity to work with the wider chaplaincy team in shaping the vision and delivery of pastoral care across Uniting.
