You will always find a warm welcome at our Service on a Sunday morning. Worship is a rich blend of both lively and traditional formats, which caters for all ages. There is always something new and special that Mark includes in the service. We have a strong tradition in the church to include a short segment where the minister has a short story to tell the children. There is also an active Sunday School and children are most welcome.
Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month.
Newcomers are always very welcome, so if you are new to South Perth – or visiting the area – please come and join us for worship and stay for a cuppa with us afterwards.
We look forward to meeting you!

Mark Illingworth started his ministry at South Perth Uniting Church on 19 January 2020, and he has well and truely settled in. That said, we are still delighted to have him as our minister. Previously, Mark was in the Uniting Church WA Presbytery/Synod headquarters for the last four years. His position there was Deputy General Secretary of the WA Uniting Church.
Mark comes with an impressive CV, not only in the Ministry of the Word, but also with valuable commercial experience in the business world. It is sometimes heard only in hushed whispers, that the clergy is often so insular and lacked the practical “real world” experience. Not with Mark. Trained as an electronics engineer in Curtin University, he worked for Westrail after graduation and then ventured out and started his own engineering consultancy company which he ran for a number of years. The burden of his call to the Service of the Word saw him spend another three years in university, again, to obtain his Bachelor Degree in Theology with honours. Evangelism and community service is very much part of Mark’s core and vision, so after his graduation in 2000, he set off in his mission and was instrumental in planting the Billabong Uniting Church in Canning Vale. The mission began with a small group meeting at his home, progressing to overseeing the planning, and the construction of a permanent building for worship. Today, the church is a thriving community, a testament and an example of what is possible when we allow God to work with us.
Mark and his wife Deb have three adult children and we are thrilled to have both Mark and Deb with us in our journey together in the South Perth Uniting Church. They are a terrific team.
If you wish to contact Mark, you can email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
