Judy and Perry : Commissioning service and farewell
On Sunday 13 October, we will say farewell to two of our long-standing church members, Judy and Perry, as they depart for 2 years volunteering their skills in Central Asia. As part of our service that morning, we will commission them and bless them for their journey and time away. The couple have served their local community and this church for many years, and are excited to have this opportunity to use their skills and abilities to serve in a foreign land.
While they are in Central Asia, Judy and Perry will be volunteering in a small international school which provides much-needed education and support for the children of families living and working in the region. Judy will use her human resources skills, while Perry will be involved in the senior science program. They will also be spending time learning the language and culture of the region as they hope to become involved in community-based projects and activities in their time there.
After the service there will be an opportunity for people to say farewell over a leisurely soup and finger food lunch.
We look forward to receiving regular updates from them while they are away, and to welcoming them back on their return in 2021. So, login to our webpage from time to time and read all about their exciting adventures in the news section.
