Among the countless nativity plays performed all across the world this Christmas season, ours at the South Perth Uniting Church must have been one of the best. It may be appropriate that I insert a small caveat here as I confess I might just possibly be a little bias. Led by our minister, the Rev Peter Johnstone, the children flawlessly acted out our very own version of the nativity story, with very minor help from one or two adult props.
We are very happy that the church was full or very nearly so, with so many visitors, including families of church members, some who have come from the east, all the way across the continent like the wise men in the past. We are especially thrilled that a few have come from the neighbourhood to join us in the service for the first time. We hope their visits to the church would be a more regular routine in the future. All in all, we had a great time singing carols and being entertained by the children. One can feel a distinct festive air present when most of us stayed for a cuppa and a natter after the service.
