DESCRIPTION:Building Healthy Church Communities\n\n\n\nA Residency with Rev Joan Wright Howie4–8 May 2026 | Western Australia \n\n\n\nJoin the Uniting Centre for Education and Formation for a series of practical and reflective workshops with Rev. Joan Wright Howie\, Uniting Church minister\, spiritual director\, supervisor\, and PhD candidate. She is currently a PhD candidate exploring the attributes of spiritually informed care and developing a model of it. Joan has a private practice and has trained both supervisors and spiritual directors for many years. She lives with her husband\, David\, in Melbourne and has three independent children. Joan loves swimming in the ocean\, gardening and going for long walks with friends.Joan is a Uniting Church minister living in Melbourne.

DESCRIPTION:The Rural Network invites you to a Funeral Workshop on Friday 20 March at South Perth Uniting Church.  The workshop led by Rev Ric Payne will run from 2.00pm to 5.30pm. \n\n\n\nThis gathering includes content presented Rev Ric Payne followed by opportunities for questions\, discussion and sharing of resources. It will build on the Online Funeral Workshop led by Rev Andy Broadbent on 17 March.  \n\n\n\nAttendees are encouraged to bring resources on the day to share with others (e.g. liturgies\, prayers\, poems\, readings\, books\, songs\, etc.). This opportunity is open to ministers\, pastors\, lay preachers\, ministry candidates (Phase 2 & 3)\, Period of Discernment candidates\, and worship teams. \n\n\n\nKeynote Speaker – Dr Meg Warner\n\n\n\nDr Meg Warner is Principal of Wollaston Theological College. She is a Hebrew Bible scholar\, specializing in Genesis and other pentateuchal books\, as well as the practical theology of trauma. She has taught internationally\, holding posts at King’s College London\, the University of Exeter and Luther King Theological College. Meg is an active lay person in the Anglican Church of Australia and has been licensed as a Reader in the Church of England and a member of its General Synod. DESCRIPTION:The Uniting Centre for Education and Formation invite Lay Preachers to a Peer Supervision Information Session on Saturday 17 May from 9.00am to 12.00pm.  The event will take place at South Perth Uniting Church\, as well as being available online. \n\n\n\nLay Preachers who are preaching regularly are expected to be in a supervision relationship. This can be a difficult requirement to fulfil when for many this is ministry that does not always have financial reward. Peer supervision is a possible solution that also builds collegiality.During this gathering\, we will explore what Peer Supervision is\, how it might work for groups of lay preachers and begin a process for those who may find the format useful.Come along to these free gathering to find out more and ask questions.
