Practical Covenanting Busy-Bee
Have you wondered how you can best support Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) WA – Congress – and demonstrate your commitment to the Covenant? A great way to show some support is to help with the upcoming Busy-Bee at the Beananging Kwuurt Institute.
The site is currently being prepared in anticipation of establishing a Healing Centre for WA Stolen Generations, a partnership between WA Congress, BKI and Yokai, the WA Stolen Generations Aboriginal Corporation. Services and community meetings have already started being delivered at the site but unfortunately it’s in need of some attention. Let’s help make it more welcoming.
When: Saturday 24 May 9.00am to 2.00pm
Where: Beananging Kwuurt Institute, 174 Treasure Rd, Queens Park.
Help is needed with the following:
- People with whipper snippers and rakes and gardening gloves and rubbish bags to help tidy all the tall grass and clean up the litter.
- People picking up the dead branches and neatly piling them up (please note that due to the presence of Shothole Borer no greenwaste can leave the site as it is a quarantine zone).
- People to help prepare the garden beds ready for planting, with soil and compost.
- And if at all possible, people to help with any paving or at least neatly stacking the pavers in preparation for re-paving.
Lastly, if physical work is not possible for you, people are welcome to assist by attending with drinks, snacks, and love.
This project is also in need of donations – of potting mix, compost, wetta soil and mulch.
Please consider helping, even if only for an hour or two. The more the merrier and what a great way to support such a wonderful project.
To indicate your willingness to assist please email Carolyn Ebell at [email protected] or call on 0409 320 041 (after work hours). Yaangka! (Thankyou)
