This is why Nedlands Uniting Church have partnered with Universitas Kristen Artha Wacana, Christian University in Kupang, West Timor for many years now. This partnership is one of the three currently supported by the WA Synod’s International Partnerships and Development Commission (IPDC).

Over the past twelve years Nedlands Uniting Church and supporters of the project have provided 48 scholarships for students who would otherwise be unable to afford to attend university. As a result, these students are able to graduate and then go on to successful careers, contributing to the economic, social and spiritual development of the Province.

Three staff members from the university, including the Rector, will come to Perth in mid-March to give a personal insight about the university, the scholarship recipients and life in West Timor. One of the visitors, Dr Jollyannes Ledo, will tell us about her recently completed dissertation ‘Pastoral Assistance to Women Pastors Who Have Experienced Domestic Violence.’

All are welcome to come along to this presentation hosted by Nedlands Uniting Church and learn more about the Christian University in Kupang partnership and of the important insights about life for the people of West Timor.
