It was good news for Fremantle Wesley Uniting Church as Rev Andrew (Andy) Broadbent was inducted there as a Deacon on Sunday 13 February, 2022. The day was just shy of the 7th anniversary of his ordination on February 22 in Perth.
Andy was supported by his family, the Presbytery of WA, the Church Council and congregation of Fremantle Wesley Uniting Church, members of his former congregation in Busselton and other church and civic leaders. The service, as well as being an Induction “to be a servant and a shepherd in this congregation” was also an occasion for him to renew the vows made by him at his Ordination.
Rev Andy brings a wealth of experience and activity in mission, outreach, youth engagement and inclusive Church. His first ministry placement until just recently was at Bay Life Uniting Church in Busselton. Prior to that, he worked as a high school teacher, a school chaplain and the WA State Coordinator for TEAR Australia, an overseas relief and development agency.
The Fremantle Wesley Uniting Church has a long, extensive history of mission and engagement with the broader community. Its beautiful, historic building dates back to 1889, and along with its strong congregation, has been a key interface and venue for its community activities.
We look forward to the magic and mission that Rev Andrew and Fremantle Wesley Uniting Church will make going forward.
