Applications are invited for a Full-Time Minister to fill a vacant placement at Wagin Group of Congregations, Wagin.
About the Placement
The Wagin Group of Congregations comprise three small rural congregations in the Wheatbelt area of Western Australia. Worship services are conducted in the towns of Wagin (weekly), Darkan (twice monthly), and Dumbleyung (monthly), as well as a short worship service at the local aged care facility (twice monthly). Most members are in the fifty plus age group and enjoy a blend of traditional and more recent music and liturgy.
The Wagin Groups’ Strategic Plan details four specific areas of action/ministry; these are:
- Public worship
- Corporate prayer
- Holiday Hobby Club and
- Community connection through social engagement
The Holiday Hobby Club provides activities for children, whilst the CommuniTEA Hub facilitates community building within the wider community. Each activity is run by enthusiastic members from within the Wagin Congregation and significant connections are being made within the broader community. The CommuniTEA Hub has successfully applied for special grant money to facilitate outings and social activities which have helped to meet some of the needs of lonely and socially isolated people. The congregation also has a strong overseas mission focus, with personal connections to Christian ministry and community building in Ukraine, Cambodia and Papua New Guinea.
This single ministry placement is supported by a willing team of lay leaders and lay preachers. The Church Council works closely with the minister and leadership to ensure the appropriate provision of ministry throughout its area of responsibility. Further education and development for the minister and for lay leadership is encouraged and financed by the Church Council.
A comfortable air-conditioned four-bedroom manse is provided in the town of Wagin which is 220kms southeast of Perth. Wagin offers facilities required in medical, educational and shopping needs, and offers a variety of sports and service clubs, and employment options. The regional towns of Katanning and Narrogin are close by.
