Thanksgiving Worship and Commissioning of the Fremantle UCA Fijian National Conference 2026
On Sunday 12 July there was a special service held at Mount Pleasant Uniting Church as a joint celebration and coming together of the Fijian communities in the Uniting Church in WA, and commissioning of the Fremantle Fijian National Conference.
The service was attended by the Chairperson of the UCA Fijian National Conference Rev Viniana Ravetali, Uniting Church WA Moderator Rev David Jackson, the UCWA General Secretary David Beards, Presbytery Minister (Pastoral) Rev Ana Leaaetoa and members of UCWA Fijian congregations.
Rev David Jackson preached the sermon on the theme ‘The Matanitu of God and the New Creation’ reflecting on 2 Corinthians 5: 16 – 19.
UCA FIJIAN NATIONAL CONFERENCE 2026
This year Western Australia will host the UCA Fijian National Conference which is taking place in Fremantle, from 1 to 4 October 2026 with the theme ‘Wind of Change and Hope in the Wilderness’ (Isaiah 43:19).
The conference will bring together Fijian members of the Uniting Church from across Australia for worship, fellowship, learning, cultural celebration and discernment of God’s future direction.
Special guests will include the UCA President Elect – Rev Dr Paul Goh, General Secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji – Rev Dr Jolame Lasawa, and the Chairperson of the UCA Fijian National Conference – Rev Viniana Ravetali.
The conference program includes teaching, worship services, church presentations, discussions on ministry and mission, youth and children’s activities, cultural performances, and the election of national office bearers. Delegates will also engage with contemporary topics including climate change, cyber safety, indigenous perspectives, pathways into ministry, and family wellbeing.
More than 600 delegates from around Australia will attend, reflecting the extensive planning and the commitment of volunteers across the Fijian Uniting Church WA community. The conference aims to strengthen faith, deepen relationships, celebrate Fijian culture, and equip the Church for mission in the years ahead.
