Our Vision for a Just Australia 2025

This resource is a collaboration of all those involved in justice work across the whole UCA. Uniting Church President, Rev Charrisa Suli, has talked about the importance of talanoa, “a space of open, honest and respectful dialogue”, asking congregations to “enter into talanoa within our communities, reflecting on the values that shape our society and advocating for policies that uphold human dignity, justice, and peace.”

The Vision document is designed so that it also has a use beyond the election. By focusing on a vision for the future, the hope is that Uniting Church members and communities will use it to discuss, understand and advocate for what we care about as the UCA based on our vision for the kind of nation and world we want to see.

Our Vision for a Just Australia names our values and key asks across seven foundations:
First Peoples; creation care; a welcoming nation; a just economy; an inclusive society; flourishing communities (urban/rural); and a just and peaceful world. Each foundation includes our hopes, the Biblical witness, what the UCA has said before on that topic, the current reality, and some questions to help people discuss and engage with their community/ local MP.

“Now is the time to be the Church that Christ calls us to be—the Church the world needs us to be— bold, compassionate, and unafraid to work for justice.”
Rev Charissa Suli, President, Uniting Church in Australia

The resource can be found on the UCA Assembly website.
